Dears, I am now looking for a producer and investor to organize a joint venture, the net profits of which will be split between the main players involved in the creation of the blockbuster, including myself. I have written a script for a full- fledged two- hour film, crafted from stories shared with me by an Odessa-New York gangster who spent eight years in an American prison. The gangster’s revelations, shared on YouTube, garnered millions of views.
But I’m conducting an amateur survey of U.S. viewers regarding a potential movie. Everyone is very much interested in this topic related to the “Russian mafia,” especially nowadays. Moreover, it transpires that the Russian mafia is, in fact, Ukrainian — a revelation yet unknown to the world. Western countries lack such movies entirely. Instead, there are only fantasies featuring peculiar freaks. Americans themselves find it hard to believe these portrayals are of Russians.
This feature film screenplay is an immensely ambitious crime saga. And it has a lot of narrative plates, which provides a bold, epic scale.
Credits are possible at the beginning of the film: All the events of the film take place at a time when Putin was not the president of a huge country, but only the mayor’s assistant in St. Petersburg and everyone called him Vova.
Indeed, the screenplay is structured to adhere to a three-act narrative arc, but the establishing first act contains almost enough material for one full-feature film, being a forbidden love story. Then the story progresses to New York, where it becomes a gangster drama, in which allegiances are tested before the third act takes us back to Lanky’s home country and a rendezvous with the past that brings the love story full circle.
Lanky and Marina are our compelling force within the story, the characters we root for, and you craft a wonderful sense of moral ambiguity for both as they are torn apart and lead very different lives, making their reunion feel more fraught and impossible.
Elsewhere, the main antagonist of Yaguzhinsky is rightly loathsome.
The protagonist of the movie, an ordinary Odessa thug and petty crook named Mikhail, falls in love with Marina, a young woman from Kiev—the wife of a weight-gaining police officer, Yaguzhinsky, with manic tendencies rooted in jealousy.
Yaguzhinsky brutally beats and rapes his wife, who’s on the brink of leaving him. Mikhail confronts Yaguzhinsky and is forced to flee to his father in the States.
In New York, our hero gets tangled up with a rough crowd of Kiev expats, eventually becoming the deputy and right-hand man to the gang leader, Magadan. The gang is deep into racketeering and murders, swiftly gaining control over numerous criminal expats from the USSR.
The “business” catches the eye of Mr. Temnopolsky, an influential mafioso, one of the leaders of the powerful post-Soviet mafia. Antagonism between Magadan, Mikhail, and Temnopolsky erupts immediately.
But Mikhail’s singular goal remains—to reunite with his
beloved.
The beloved attempts to join Mikhail in the States, but Yaguzhinsky orchestrates a provocation at the border. Now, Marina’s entry into the States is prohibited, and she’s forcefully taken by her formal husband, Yaguzhinsky.
Two years pass. Marina comes to terms with her circumstances. She’s now a businesswoman, but undeniably unhappy.
The gang, including Mikhail, has solidified its position as one of the most influential in New York and is summoned to Ukraine to address sensitive, informal matters related to the country’s President.
In reality, it’s involved in amassing hundreds of millions of dollars and eliminating the President’s rivals. Marina’s husband, Yaguzhinsky, is now a colonel on the President’s payroll.
In Kiev, Michael unexpectedly encounters Marina: she lives with Yaguzhinsky, no longer daring to risk leaving him. Michael’s feelings persist, but Marina refuses to meet him. The second time around, she simply can’t endure what she’s already been through.
Especially since Marina is now indulging in drinking and later starts snorting cocaine. With great difficulty, Michael manages to protect Marina and help her recover. The love idyll of the heroes begins.
The conflict between the hero’s false friend, Valik Grimm, and Michael arises out of unsatisfied ambition. A conflict emerges between Yaguzhinsky and Mikhail.
There’s also a jealousy-fueled conflict between the President and the gang leader, Magadan because of his lover. On behalf of the President, another conflict ensues between Yaguzhinsky and Magadan.
There’s a conflict within the President’s inner circle, involving Magadan and Michael as well. However, the primary antagonism develops between Mikhail and Magadan on one side and Temnopolsky on the other, constantly manipulating conflicts and attempting to physically eliminate Magadan and his assistant while seizing criminal influence over the entire country.
In the end, Temnopolsky successfully eliminates Magadan with the help of Valik Grimm. Now, Mikhail, and consequently, Marina, are in great danger.
Marina manages to be smoothly smuggled into the States and hidden there. Mikhail, outsmarting Yaguzhinsky and Temnopolsky, later successfully leaves for the States.
However, Temnopolsky’s influence extends beyond borders. He needs to eliminate witnesses to his activities. Mikhail is framed and receives an eight-year sentence in the States.
In Ukraine, Temnopolsky gains unlimited power.
But still unable to reach Mikhail, Temnopolsky organizes the attempted murder of Marina and waits for the right time to finally hide the ends of this story in the water. After being released from prison, Mikhail meets Marina’s formal husband, Yaguzhinsky, at Marina’s grave in the cemetery.
A second version of the ending is possible, especially for the USA viewers: Mikhail and Yaguzhinsky collide in the hospital, where the seriously injured Marina was taken.
Given the subject matter and genre, this type of epic crime thriller undoubtedly has its own large audience. The script has similarities to a number of large scale crime dramas. With this scale and ambition, the price tag is appropriate, which would make the production of this movie expensive. With so many characters, sets and locations, it feels like the scope of a «Godfather» movie.
There are fights, explosions, and shootouts. One shootout is just as good as, if not better than, the famous shootout in the «Heat».
Genre-wise, it’s a criminal melodrama. The material has been translated into English. This material is quite suitable for creating a world-class blockbuster.
Since the material touches on Ukraine in some parts, there’s a potential for a significant budget reduction through the use of local sites, supporting actors, crowd scenes, rental of filming equipment, hiring specialists in Ukraine, and bringing in notable Russian actors. In this case, a handful of high-profile American actors would suffice. But all of this is at the discretion of investors, producers, and the director. While funding is being negotiated, the war will be over and work can begin.
The script may be overly complex as it interweaves several
stories at once, but there is ambition here and a great exploration of this particular criminal network.
And of course, a movie like this needs an actor, or even an actor and actress who are first rate stars. The movie would make those stars that much more colorful.
Certainly, «Odessa. New York. Kiev. Criminal Rhapsody» is something impressive.

Здравствуйте. Я ищу продюсера и инвестора для организации совместного предприятия, чистая прибыль которого будет разделена между основными участниками создания сериала, включая меня. Располагаю, написанным мною, полноценным сценарием, криминальной драмы с элементами мелодрамы «Киев – наш город» о событиях, происшедших в Киеве и СССР, начиная с 1941 по 2004 год.
Продолжение сериала будет затрагивать события с 2004 по 2014 года, выглядеть, как полный метр и называться: «Майдан». И это будет правдивая история, а не пропаганда. Предисловием сериала будет полный метр «Таня», рассказывающий о напрочь забытой героине еврейского подполья, успешно действующей в Киеве в годы Второй Мировой войны. Также будут показаны правдивые картины ужасающего преступления германских фашистов в Киеве носящее, громкое название «Бабий Яр».
Эта история тесно переплетена с историей страны, которой уже нет. Уже сегодня вокруг нее нагромождены целые завалы лжи. В частности – война в Афганистане у нас показана со своей необычной стороны.
А по какой-то причине совершенно забытая гибель теплохода «Адмирал Нахимов», показана подробно и написана не хуже, чем гибель «Титаника», но опять же, со своей необычной стороны. Во время крушения проявляются самые худшие и лучшие качества людей.
Эта история о судьбе трех поколений киевских красавиц, попавших в переплёт ужасных событий: Марии, Лизы и Галы, по прозвищу Мальвина. Это история о начале противостояния главного злодея по версии ФБР «Мафиозо №1 в мире» Севы Киевского и главного героя – Гималайского. Это история о команде простых ребят спортсменов: гребцов-академистов, а заодно и музыкантов любительского ансамбля, живущих в одном из киевских дворов, тяготеющих к городской шпане.
И главный герой Гималайский, и героиня Мальвина в течении всего фильма будут стараться спасти своих друзей от гибели в криминальной среде. Но только спасти всех не удастся. Конечно же, почти все, тайно или явно, будут влюблены в героиню. Она предпочтет одного, но ничего хорошего из этого не выйдет: Не родись красивой, а родись счастливой.
Пять сезонов по восемь серий по 44-45 минут. Единственный более-менее подходящий аналог сериалу, который удалось найти, просматривая подобные фильмы – “Криминальный роман” – “Romanzo Criminale”. Отголоски – «Сопрано» и «Однажды в Америке». В своей литературной части аналогом истории может быть «Сто лет одиночества» Габриэля Гарсиа Маркеса.
Полному погружению в эпоху помогут 30-40 песен самого популярного в то время в Советском Союзе барда Владимира Высоцкого, звучащие фоном на протяжении всех событий фильма. Пока только предварительное согласие правонаследников Высоцкого получено. Мы уйдем и Высоцкого забудут, уже большинство народа забыли. Этим фильмом мы продлим память о Поэте на многие годы.
Так как материал, в основном, про Киев, то возможно значительное удешевление бюджета за счет местных локаций, артистов второго плана, массовых сцен, аренды съемочного оборудования, специалистов. Помогут и серьезные российские актеры. Для полного успеха фильма возможно обойтись одним–двумя звездными американскими или европейскими актерами. Но это все – на усмотрение инвесторов, продюсера и режиссера. На съемках Киев можно заменить на любой другой похожий город. Пока мы будем искать и обсуждать все вопросы финансирования, война закончится и можно будет начинать полноценную работу.
Помимо того, что такая тема сейчас очень востребована на Западе, это может быть совместный русско-американо-украинский фильм, что именно сейчас будет настоящей сенсацией и привлечет к нему колоссальное внимание в мире. По этому поводу также есть мысли.
Также уже полностью готов сценарий своеобразного продолжения сериала – «Одесса. Нью-Йорк. Киев. Криминальная рапсодия». В блокбастере присутствуют несколько персонажей из сериала «Киев – наш город». Но это совершенно отдельная история, полный метр – полноценный двухчасовый сценарий, написанный по личным рассказам автору одесско-нью-йоркского гангстера, отсидевшего восемь лет в американской тюрьме. Его откровения в ютюбе собирали миллионы просмотров. По этому сценарию вполне можно снять блокбастер мирового уровня.
Также проводим любительский опрос зрителей США, по поводу возможного блокбастера. Всех, а значит и остальной мир, очень, особенно сейчас, интересует данная тема, связанная с “русской мафией”. Очень удивятся западные зрители, когда узнают, что в данном случае – это украинская мафия. Таких фильмов в странах Запада вообще нет. Есть фантазии про каких-то уродов. Американцы и сами не верят, что это русские.
Блокбастер будет интересен зрителям всего мира. Возрастная категория: 30-60 лет. Гендерная: мужчины и женщины. Авторские права на все работы зарегистрированы в Библиотеке Конгресса США.
